    I am a knitter, knitwear pattern designer, graphic designer, instructor and author. I create graphic design work for local freelance clients including: ITA Group, Iowa Digital, Madelinetosh, Farm & Fiber, Sammons Annuity Group, Farm Bureau, Ballet Des Moines, Power Life Yoga, First Light Pottery, The Dana Company, Cahill-Douglas Group, Norris Law Firm, Haugen Realty, Franklin Barber Shop, Foundation Fitness, Family Therapy Solutions, Walnut Creek CSA and more. Projects include publication design and layout, corporate identity, print materials, ad design and blog design. I create graphics and coordinate printing services for freelance clients.I teach knitting classes and design and write knitwear patterns. My designs have been published in Knit Simple Magazine, Noro Magazine, Knitsy Magazine and Rowan’s Online Publications; I have written knitwear patterns online since 2010 and have self-published 7 knitting books, and have designed knitting collections and books for Rowan Yarns and Quail Studios.

    Coordinated all design work for Big Green Umbrella Media and their publications. Designed spreads for Cityview, Relish and special advertising sections/inserts (for example, Taste of Des Moines, Fire in the Sky, etc.) Managed and trained an editorial intern and a graphic designer. Worked closely with the editor and publisher on visual concepts for stories and covers. Designed covers and inside artwork. Set print and ad deadlines and worked with outside printing companies. Excelled in ad design and editorial layout on tight weekly deadlines with accuracy and speed. Assisted ad reps in meeting deadlines. Was responsible for photography and color correction on photos. Prepared text files and photos for web. Set up e-mail accounts and performed general computer maintenance/troubleshooting for all Macs/printers in office. Prepared files for press, preflight and sent to printer via ftp site.
