Performed a broad search for a new company. After interviewing several potential companies, chose a firm. After the new company began, worked to acquaint them with the existing infrastructure. The transition was smooth and the end user experience greatly improved.

    Coordinated with and evaluated Asian vendors. Visited subcontractors in Asia to coordinate efforts in order to streamline processes. Evaluated capabilities for prototyping and tooling. Met with senior-level technical and executive staff. Information was used to aid in the formation of strategic alliances for future projects and long-term relationships.Designed a modular fixturing system for 3-5 axis machining using Pro/ENGINEER. Previous methods were not repeatable and did not yield appropriate tolerances. Developed a new system using CAD tools and surveyed machinists for feedback. Created detailed drawings and subcontracted the manufacturing of the components. Upon installation, all of the problems of repeatability and accuracy were diminished. The new system was also modular so that components could be interchanged with other machines without loss of dimensional integrity to the final machined parts.Upgraded rapid prototyping system. Existing system created two wax prototypes in 48-60 hours and was very unreliable. Due to problems with the machinery, the run time could be extended by three to four days until a service technician could perform repairs. Researched companies and determined which ones would fit the production processes. Performed benchmarking and trial runs with vendors and prospective systems. Purchased and implemented a new system. The new system produced 6 wax prototypes in 17 hours, saving over 70%. The parts were of acceptable quality and the system is very reliable.Created a marketing case study for a rapid prototyping company. Got management approval and participated in interviews to gather information about the uses and advantages of the system. Resulted in a publishable article for nationwide trade publications, company marketing literature and increased public awareness of the company in regards to use of technology to help build a better product.
