Starting at Pan Am in 1959, as a steward, while in college at Cornell, I rose in the ranks, first to supervisor of cost control in the in-flight service department; I went on to become in charge of the in-flight food and beverage operation, with 18 flight kitchens, 3 frozen food kitchens and a tight working relationship with Maxim's of Paris.Later, we developed the in-flight program for the B-747 and I was made the person in charge of the department.
