    My duties have varied over the years. My current "beat," or area of responsibilities, is the city of Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa City Hall and the Tuscaloosa City Council. My other beats have included rural Tuscaloosa County and the general goings-on in the nine-county region surrounding Tuscaloosa County in which we deliver, the Public Safety and Courts beat as well as the city of Northport. In 2012, I was part of The Tuscaloosa News team that won the Pulitzer Prize for deadline reporting, which was awarded for our reporting following the April 27, 2011, tornado that damaged or destroyed more than 12 percent of Tuscaloosa.
