I designed a successful employment program and unique training course specifically for migrants who wish to enter the Australian workforce and start their working life. The training builds skills that are relevant to the jobs brokered by Service Stars and is job/employer/industry specific. Ongoing mentoring and support is provided post training. The training is based on individual needs, interests and outcomes and will vary for each course. Due to popular demand, the Career Planning workshops are available again and can be incorporated into the training course or on an individual or small group basis. The training enables participants to learn the basic skills I believe are essential for starting and keeping a job.The course is usually 5-10 days in duration although this can depend on the job or the participants needs. The training is high quality with innovative learning tools/methods for participants that can be varied as needed. It is culturally sensitive and is delivered in a fully supportive learning environment.Around 550 women (and some men) have befitted from the training and many have the jobs they want. Some women continue with Service Stars, working directly or with employer partners.Service Stars also designs and manages projects with community and corporate partners with English Language Needs At Work, Career Planning, Preparing for Work and Employment Rights for International Students completed in recent times. In 2017 Service Stars initiated a catering arm to the business providing direct, well paid jobs for women seeking careers in the hospitality industry. These jobs include customer service, menu planning, budgeting, cooking, time management and client relations. We look forward to expanding this service into 2018.
