Using the most current data I consult with management regarding the best approaches to use and suggest appropriate employee training programs. I also conduct on-site inspections regarding workplace safety involving co-workers, clients or unknown individuals.

    Initially I trained officers in Crisis Intervention and Conflict Management. When I realized that we (trainers and educators) were using crisis intervention techniques to deal with confrontations, I developed Confrontation Management, a program that deals with two types of anger and involves many different dynamics than crisis intervention. I attended the FBI Academy for training in conflict management and received training from Morton Bard, the father of modern crisis intervention from New York City University. My time in the classroom was only a fraction of what I spent in research.

    I was a SWAT Sniper and Sniper Training Officer for 8 years, a Field Training Officer for 15 years, an Academy Instructor for 23 years, and a Resource Officer in the public schools for 8 years. From the Patrol division I worked traffic, crime response, and plain clothes investigative functions. I specialized in Domestic Crisis Intervention, and was a member of PAT Team which offered assistance to officers who had been involved in critical incidents. My specific area of expertise was in aiding officers who had responded to SIDS deaths.
