My work under the Regional Youth Development Division (RYDD) entailed the close coordination with the vast nationwide network of youth and youth-serving organizations, the conduct of training and seminar-workshops, particularly on pressing youth issues and advocacies. I was also tasked with exploring and securing partnerships from both government and non-government stakeholders. These include international organizations such as the UNICEF and the UNDP, and the embassies of countries including India and Japan. As part of the agency's initiative on the reform of the Sangguniang Kabataan, I also worked closely with the inter-agency technical working group on the crafting of the Mandatory Training manual, which was then used during the actual rollout of training for the officials of the SK.

    • Presidential Staff Officer I
      • Mar 2014 - Jan 2016

My position under the Policy Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PRMED) involved the identification of pressing youth issues which could serve as bases for inclusion in the youth policy agenda. This necessarily entails the conduct of consultative fora for various stakeholders, drafting of concept notes for the implementation of researches, coordination with both government and non-government partners, both in the local and international settings. One of the highlights of my work in the PRMED is the successful lobbying of the strengthening of youth participation and representation in disaster risk reduction and management councils in several local government units. To date, however, the goal of institutionalizing the same on the nationwide level remains to be attained.PRMED staff also serve as members of field units in the conduct of surveys and researches; thus, this job also provided me with an opportunity to further my knowledge and skill in the formulation of survey instruments, statistical analysis with focus on policy development, and conduct of studies using different approaches.
