Returned to UK to act as Chief Engineer to support the development of Manufacturing and end-of-line testing capability for mass production of Westport HPDI gas injectors, working in partnership with a large UK-based Tier 1 heavy-duty diesel injector manufacturer based in Gloucestershire.Leading small UK-based Westport Team and subcontracting to local and European suppliers to develop and evolve manufacturing process and end-of-line test equipment to support supply of HPDI to European and Chinese truck OEMs,As the market for EU6 LNG trucks in Europe has increased rapidly in the past 2 years, this manufacturing capability has evolved to match, through continuous investment, to a very significant capacity. My involvement extends through:-- Defining test requirements.- Developing test methodologies- Specifying test rig systems and automation.- Selecting and specifying instrumentation and measurement tools/ methods- Following process and standards (FMECA, MQ, ATEX, ISO90001etc, H&S requirements) etc.-Development of data analysis systems, data archiving, process monitoring etc (Matlab,Excel, VBA, SQL etc).- Process continuous improvements - operational efficiency enancement etc- Staff training & mentoring- Budget & spend monitoring-Working with external suppliers and contractors- Protection of company IP and product / operational liability

Based in Beijing / WeifangChief Engineer and Manager for Weichai Westport Joint Venture to deliver HPDI (high pressure direct injection of CH4) to Chinese market. Leading team of ~ 20 Chinese engineers and with supporting Vancouver engineering team.Base diesel engine design changes, Test facility enhancement, Engine calibration, Engine validation, Engine certification (CN5 / EU5), Truck application, Truck calibration, Environmental (+40 desert, -40 Siberia, 5000m altitude) testing, to final Chinese license for vehicle sale. Delivered performance and economy match to base diesel truck with 20% reduction in CO2 in line with HPDI system target.
