    Working as a Fellow gave me opportunity to work with the head masters and teachers on the School Leadership Development Program aimed at improving student-learning outcome in the government schools of Kapkote block in Uttarakhand . Further, extensive involvement with various stakeholders – like students, parents, community leaders, government officials and school management committees – has helped me imbibing crucial skills like leadership, collaborative work and optimum utilization of available resources on ground.Gandhi Fellowship is a two-year program designed to provide youth with the opportunity for personal transformation through self-discovery and thereby, contribute to the causes surrounding them. It creates a legitimate space for young people to engage with social issues in a realistic manner and devote their energies to bring about school change through their tenure and effectively lead complex public systems in the future.My work at Gandhi Fellowship entails : (1) School Leadership: Facilitating Headmaster’s leadership development and Teacher’s capacity building in Government elementary schools to increase the learning outcomes of students. (2) Field Support: Aligning school processes to maximize school output -in terms of academic and extracurricular activities. (3) Community Engagement: Setting up forums with school teachers and HMs to increase community participation in school processes as well as in the education of the children. A semester wise community immersion for 1 month is necessary to get to the ground reality.(4) Public System Project: First successful attempt at BALA (Building As Learning Aid) in one of the remotest villages of Uttrakhand. Career guidance sessions with students for future prospects in education.
