Fall 2016 and Fall 2017 seminars covered major fixed income sectors, including governments, agencies, corporates, municipals, mortgage and asset-backed securities and fixed income derivatives, with a sell side perspective. Spring 2017 seminar provided an overview of the major sectors with a buy side perspective and a summary of portfolio management techniques. Graduate seminars combine material from the two undergraduate courses.

Global Advisory and Policy, 2008-2015Advised on accounting and regulatory treatment for fixed income, commodities, structured notes and equity derivatives businesses, coordinating approval of conclusions with auditors, issued accounting and regulatory policies in focus areas, implemented new accounting standards and oversaw securitization footnote in financial statements. Applied extensive product expertise and accounting and regulatory knowledge to analysis of proposed transaction structures. Unique combination often resulted in faster responses and improved structures. Quick response provided greater opportunity to capitalize on changing markets; improved structure resulted in more efficient balance sheet and capital usage. Implemented FAS 166 (financial asset transfers) and FAS 167 (consolidation). Knowledge of securitization structures made analysis and discussions with auditors on interpretation more efficient. Implementation resulted in minimal additional consolidation. Implemented ASU 2011-03 (control criterion). Developed approach to identifying the “substantially the same” criteria for dollar roll transactions that resulted in no change to accounting result with minimal monitoring requirements.
