In 2016 my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was at this time that I reflected and decided that real estate wasn’t for me, and to pursue something more meaningful. I went over to Australia, where my dad had been living for a decade and helped move him and his dog back to New Zealand and re-establish them here.During this period:• After dad passed away, I renovated his home and got it ready for sale• My uncle needed to sell two of his apartments, so I renovated them prior to putting them on the market• I took mum to France and Italy for a month, she’s never travelled internationally before so this was a way to thank her for being a great mum and to spend time together as adults. We had a blast!• I continued to travel for a further 12 weeks, and visited the Greek Islands (Mykonos & Santorini), Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, Toronto, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Miami and Kuala Lumpur• During this period, I owned three tenanted properties and looked after the upkeep and management
