I own and manage a small company where I design and manufacture a range of small caravans. I have designed and manufactured a couple of full size products as well. I’m involved in all aspects of the caravan design, from initial concepts, to prototyping, creating 3-Dimensional CAD models, technical drawings through to the final production-ready product.- Sketch ideas or create renderings, to provide a visual of design ideas- Work with other specialists, such as mechanical engineers and manufacturers, to evaluate whether their design concepts will fill needs at a reasonable cost- Examine materials and manufacturing requirements to determine production costs- Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine if a design is practical- Liaise with sales, marketing and production departments- Improve the design of existing products- Use 3D modelling software to design products and components- Consult with clients to determine requirements for designs- Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners- Create design concepts and drawings to determine the best product- Use computer software to develop virtual models of different designs- Test product designs using models, prototypes, and CAD- Present product ideas to relevant team members for brainstorming- Maintain up to date on current industry trends and market conditions- Present designs and demonstrate prototypes to clients for approval

Was the lead designer of furniture components with the design priority being the optimal use of materials. I created 2-dimensional CAD drawings going onto build full size prototypes. I was also the CNC programmer for the production of these components.- Used computer software to develop virtual models of different designs- Created physical prototypes of their designs- Improved the design of existing products- Used 3D modelling software to design products and components- Corrected product faults- Produced prototypes and test functionality
