Commodity.ng, is a Nigerian agricultural data management company that aims to revolutionize the agricultural value chain in the country by serving accurate present and historic data to improve the sector. We collect, validate, analyse and publish data of agricultural commodities across the country to make the agricultural eco-system fairer to all parties involved with buying and selling of agricultural commodities. We aim to do away with extortion of farmers and farmers group by middlemen in the country which usually occurs due to lack of proper knowledge about the market structures that makes up the commodity market in the country. As the founder and C.F.O of Commodity Nigeria I was tasked with building the structure of the business and sourcing for funds. In 2 years of operation, my team and I have had to overcome most of the problems that comes along with building and sustaining a business in Nigeria, from the issues of finances, to issues to competition and issues of unfavourable atmosphere due to some government policies and bureaucracy. As a founder, I attended the IFAIR programs (an incubation program by the Vice President’s office and the Embassy of Israel) which is an extensive incubation program for business leaders to build and showcase their ideas and prototype to the world, at IFAIR I was exposed to extensive leadership and team building training and workshops over the period of 21 days. Our team also took part in the Total Energies start upper challenge, we made it to the top 15 finalists out of over 5000 start ups that applied in the country. I was privileged to undergo all-embracing business building and leadership training in Lagos for a period of 10 days. As the Lead Founder of commodity Nigeria, I learned how to build a business, source for funding for a business, manage the business finances, manage the team, motivate the correspondence and ensure efficiency in our data that is been captured, processed and served to the world for their perusal.
