* In this role I supported supplier business owners with the management of suppliers and theirperformance by advising the best approach, practice and due diligence options that could be followedto successfully obtain the outcome they were aiming to achieve (cost savings, matching businessrequirements to contracts, commercial terms, and service/performance levels).* I provided expert advice to the IT department as a subject matter expert (with my product andchannel purchasing experience previously gained in the IT Managed Service Provider sector) to assistthem with obtaining the outcome they were aiming to achieve.* We designed and established a new simple and robust procurement and supplier managementprocess appropriate to the scale of the business to enable cost savings and avoidance of unnecessaryexpenditure caused by the existing overcomplicated arrangements.* The new process also enabled the business to satisfy compliance and risk management requirementsmore reliably and efficiently. It included an approved supplier list which Imaintained to monitor and keep the number of live supplier accounts within reasonable andmanageable limits and monitor whether supplier management requirements had been met.* We introduced a rolling supplier activity planning process to review contracts far enough in advanceof expiry to have the opportunity to make changes and cost savings without the risk of losing orinterrupting critical services in use or to allow orderly retirement of items no longer needed.This had not been done in the past, resulting in a great deal of inefficiency and unnecessary costto the business.
