    • Had a three day trial where five of us shadowed a Development Director around London• We visited some of the largest buildings in London (Heron Building and One Canada Square) and were taught about vacant office space.• There was also a lecture on regeneration in the heart of the city (St Barts Square), development appraisals and property finance funding.• Finally we were taught about the future up and coming commercial buildings focusing mainly on the 122 Leadenhall Building (Cheese Grater) and 20 Fenchurch Street (Walkie Talkie)

    2 weeks at CBRE Global Investors• This was an internship within the separate accounts department shadowing a managing director.• Within my time there I practiced basic valuation on industrial sites showing different option prices and the yields they would seek. • I also had to put forward three different development appraisals with different options offering varying retail space, looking at floor space and basic costs. • Took part in a conference call with the site manager.

    4 weeks with Knight Frank• This was through the Knight Frank internship scheme, where I had to go through three interview phases, and was placed within the head office in the West End (55 Baker Street).• I was placed in the Property Asset Management department where I rotated each week for 4 weeks with different partners viewing each of their trophy buildings.• In my time there I learnt the ins and outs of office space and how buildings are run, meeting onsite managers daily, and assessing current issues (practicing landlord and tenant law when reading leases).• I also learnt how service charges work on buildings and what tenants are liable to pay.
