    Hong Yul RYOO is a partner in the IP Practice Group and Future Intelligence Information Group. From the onset of his practice, he focused on the enforcement of IP rights on behalf of clients representing major industries. He represented a number of multinational companies based locally and overseas in patent infringement and invalidation cases. Further, Mr. Ryoo successfully represented many clients in trade secret misappropriation cases, in civil and criminal proceedings, involving multi-national trade secret misappropriation cases brought in US, Japan and Korea.In particular, Mr. Ryoo has advised and represented numerous domestic and foreign clients in enforcing and licensing copyrights cases such as Games(Capcom, Longtu, King.com, Nexon), Comics(Lezhin Entertainment), MLB Broadcasting(SK), Marketing & Commercials(Dentsu), etc.Mr. Ryoo was also lead counsel in landmark cases involving trademark and unfair competition. Recently he conducted Brand Strategy Projects for global motor manufacturing company and financial holding company.It cannot be ignored that Mr. Ryoo has dealt with national and international joint investment projects, joint R&D projects and license contract cases which were successfully carried out. Besides IP, Mr. Ryoo actively advises clients on legal and regulatory issues arising from FinTehck and the implementation and adoption of blockchain technology, in particular, to initial coin offering (ICO), listing of cryptocurrencies on Korean exchanges, deposit and withdrawal of cryptocurrencies and fait currencies, and expansion of services offered by Korean cryptocurrency exchanges to foreign markets.In addition, Mr. Ryoo is also well-experienced in criminal law. He successfully defended multinational corporations in criminal prosecutions related to environmental pollution caused by oil spill, commercial bribery charge, and other white collar crime charges.
