    Worked as a senior economic analyst in the directorate, performing analysis on a range of tasks:• Advised senior Government ministers on a range of social care policy matters, including leading on the economic justification for mental health reforms for children and adolescents. Directly liaised with Norman Lamb (then-minister responsible for mental health care), presenting findings and fielding questions on the analysis.• Calculated the NPV for various Government initiatives, compiling analysis into an accessible document for non-analysts using appropriately pitched explanations and use of relevant data visualisations to clarify and magnify narratives in the data.• Used SAS to analyse large datasets, such as the Health Survey for England, to identify intertemporal trends in health conditions in the population and run OLS regressions to identify the impact of certain policies.• Led from the front on creating a department-wide CPD initiative ‘analysis for non-analysts’ which became part of the offer for new starters in the department as part of a wider CPD push. Led a multidisciplinary team, involving the chief economist, across both the London and Leeds office to deliver training sessions and respond to feedback for further improvement.

    Worked as a junior economist in a number of rotations in the Office for National Statistics.• Diagnosed systemic issues in the data sources and methodology used to compile the NPISH sector of the national accounts. • Worked with the external body NCVO to improve the quality of data sourced and the methodology of processing and compiling the data. Drove the development of the NPISH project such that it led to an increase in the measured size of the sector by hundreds of millions of pounds.• Reported and analysed macroeconomic GDP data, providing summaries for press and interested technical parties for monthly GDP releases. • Scrutinised data to provide pertinent high-level narratives supported my more detailed trends in industries along with accurate economic context of movements and impacts.
