I started in the labor gang doing odd jobs and moving materials. I bid on and was awarded a utility position where I worked in the chain department. The various jobs were heat treating chain, testing completed sling chain assemblies, inspecting chain links before assembly. I was also the person who would pack the assembled sling chains for shipment to the customers. This position was ended my my being drafted into the U S Army.
