Partnerships and Engagement
-
Oct 2018 - Mar 2024
I manage the interface between the council and residents. I am leading a whole-council community engagement review and writing the strategy. I use Agile approaches to manage these projects. I manage the community engagement platform and support consultations. I build effective relationships and partnerships with a range of internal and external partners and colleagues. Being strategic is my strength and I thrive joining the dots, making connections and adding value to outcomes. I lead the LGBT+ Network, developing an external community focus and an internal diversity and inclusion approach to drive team development and innovation to boost outcomes.

I was responsible for developing, managing, supporting and learning from UK-wide funded projects and programmes which promote well being and social cohesion and challenge limiting perceptions of disability. This was supported by Salesforce and providing opportunities in sports, physical activity, arts and culture, volunteering and social action. I have a good understanding of community development and engagement, and of volunteering. I also led on physical activity and tackling inactivity. I worked with a range of partners and stakeholders, such as Scottish Government to maximise the potential of projects. This included achieving quality reporting, enhancing monitoring and evaluating (M & E), working with M & E partners, drawing out early and end of project learning and sharing this across all sectors. I drew upon and enhanced my knowledge and skills of sport and physical activity, public health, project management, M & E, reporting and partnership working at a local and national level. Learning was key to the role with achieving a legacy dependent upon what was learnt from projects and to inform future practice at grassroots and national levels.I reported to a Board at meetings, through presentations and written reports.

A world renowned youth-focused charity with a global reach working with young people (7 - 25 years) by using a Theory of Change, a Sport for Development model and an outcomes focused approach to achieve personal change. Reaching those at risk of gang membership, disengaging from school and entering the youth justice system is a priority. As Project Manager I monitored all five core work areas, successfully delivered two new projects I developed and reported on a large number of grants. I supported grant applications and worked collaboratively with all staff. This included supporting approaches to businesses for support, through funding and a range of activities for young people, especially around employability. This provided further insight into CSR and excellent links were made and relationships forged.

A strategic role, working across council services, external partners and all schools (almost 100). Strategic partnerships and networks were a focus and are a strength. I was awarded Partner of the Year in the field of education, sport and health. I implemented and then strategically managed a national strategy, with stringent national targets were achieved year-on-year. I took an off the radar area onto a platform, with engagement increasing and 'champions' being created to promote and challenge.I negotiated staff roles and influenced at all levels.I was invited to lead on childhood obesity for Children's Services, working with Tower Hamlets NHS. I co-authored the Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives strategy and oversaw the delivery of this.As the education lead for London 2012 I established a cross-service group and was invited onto the Corporate operational Group. I succeeded in creating a network of school staff, including a group who wrote Olympic curriculum materials with me, who were all volunteers. I persuaded staff to join, and stay as members of this network. I worked with the Education Business Partnership, Worshipful Companies and developed a positive link with Lloyds of London CSR programme for the School Sport Partnership. I have a god understanding of this field and this sits well with my community development and volunteering knowledge and understanding.I used project management skills and data to plan, monitor and evaluate.I identified other priorities and linked my work to these to aid an 'in' and engagement. I was selected for the Aspiring Leaders programme, with day release for 18 months.
