    The Social Fabric SA project arose from a desire to help rebuild an embattled South African textile industry, to save - and even create - sustainable, meaningful jobs through the development of an innovation pipeline. This would be achieved through promoting creative collaboration to (re)discover South Africa’s natural materials. The project was based around four South African textiles. For each of the four textiles, we recruited an innovative textile company to collaborate with an artist over a month’s research partnership. The output of this partnership was shared at a hands-on development workshop for 25 designers and makers in order to inspire creative new products and reinvigorate inspiration around local textiles.
