Additionally the ongoing interaction with students, their goals, their problems, their responsibilities and their needs, with an open door policy that extended to a connection and comfortable interaction with their parents. Fundamental to me personally was to demonstrate and encourage a willingness to listen, to share, to express concerns or thoughts, and appreciate the value of respect and tolerance of others. In the teaching of content, my students were exposed to the realization that just as the world changes so does our knowledge of content. The thrill of learning is then the excitement of learning even more as things change ! A world of new ideas, new curiosities, new discoveries, new challenges can provide a life of relevance and enthusiasm !
