My previous position of Corporate Data Advocate evolved into a strategist position charged with expanding data governance good practices into multiple arenas. Serving as a translator between policy, business, legal, compliance, technology, data management, data governance, and cybersecurity teams, I helped define policy for the IFC and for its parent organization, the World Bank Group and was on the core team that jumpstarted its Data Privacy program, and worked to define and protect Mission Critical Data Assets. I developed a new approach to Access Governance, and helped onboard new Access Management software, policies, and rules, along with simplified processes to support them. I developed and introduced a Confidentiality Framework and mentored compliance attorneys in how to work with technicians.

Corporate Data Advocate
-
Apr 2013 - Jan 2019
-
Washington D.C. Metro Area
As IFC's Corporate Data Advocate, I developed strategies, contributed to policies, and worked to ensure that business and technology execution address them. I served as a bridge between Business Units, the corporate Data Governance team, IT Management leaders, IT Project teams, and functional groups working with corporate Data Assets. Advocating directly for the executive owners of those Data Assets, I worked up and down the org chart to educate decision makers about the impact of their decisions on data and therefore corporate capabilities. As part of the IT Governance process, I ensured that projects' impact on Data Assets were considered. I coached the PMO and Project Managers on Data Governance activities to include in projects, and then coached staff as needed. I served as a Horizontal for a major IT Transformation Program and sat on the Coordination Team and key Project Teams.
