The Mobility Pricing Independent Commission is a group of 14 representatives from across Metro Vancouver who have been tasked with making recommendations about decongestion charging in Metro Vancouver to the Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation and the TransLink Board of Directors. Although Commission members are affiliated with a variety of organizations, they are participating in the Commission as private citizens. As an independent body, the Commission can lead an engagement process that is free from political influence. The recommendations the Commission provide to the Mayors’ Council and TransLink Board will be based on a transparent process that includes technical research and analysis, along with significant public engagement and education.Members of the public were invited to apply to serve on the Commission through online and print advertising. Over 50 people from across Metro Vancouver applied to participate. An interview panel made up of members of the Mayors’ Council and TransLink Board met with applicants and with the support of a recruitment firm selected 14 members to serve on the Commission.
