Founded in 1989 by Governor William Donald Schaefer, the State of Maryland, and business community WTCI is the preeminent network in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region to educate, connect, support, and grow the engagement of globally minded leaders and companies with the world while enhancing the economic competitiveness of our region through real, local impact. WTCI’s network is the largest of its kind in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic – a who’s who of the top global business executives – 3,500+ companies, academic institutions, nonprofits, and government agencies who strive to have a positive impact on economic, environmental, and cultural issues around the world. They come from a range of businesses -- big and small and across sectors -- whose leaders benefit from WTCI’s global connections, events, programs, and services. WTCI is also part of the World Trade Center Association’s network of over 1 million+ people and 300 organizations in 130 countries, a World Bank PSLO network in 100 countries, and 20 years of State Department programs. Additionally, we are an official partner of the University System of Maryland; Maryland’s Departments of Commerce, Transportation, and Agriculture; BWI Airport; and Maryland Port Administration – whose leaders all serve on our WTCI Board of Directors.
