Having started as Personnel Manager after 1 year I was asked to act as Head of HR after the Corporate Services Director left & whilst a reorganisation was taking place. I was accountable for a department of 25 and responsible for the management of 7 direct reports covering a department which provided personnel, training and health and safety activities providing services for 2,100 staff – working on sheltered housing courts (Housing Services), Support Services and in the Care Services Department. Having decided that I didn’t want to apply for the new Director role the Chief Executive created a new role of National HR Manager where I reported to a new post of OD/HR Director. In that role I had responsibility for the HR team of 13 (4 direct reports). Responsible across the Association for providing support on all areas of HR management - including employment law, pay and benefits; HR database; recruitment and employee relations (including TU liaison).
