Administrator

Jul 2016 - Jan 2017

Blackpool, United Kingdom
In 2016 as part of the Illuminations we held a Lightpool Festival. I have never worked on a festival before and found myself thrown in the deep end working with new people with new ways of working. What an experience it turned out to be. I've met some wonderful people who I've thoroughly enjoyed working with. As they had little or no experience of working within a local Council, I felt my 18 years knowledge has been invaluable. I did everything from setting up new suppliers to ordering goods along with sorting everyone's invoices from hotels to artists. I was the only administrator and to say it was a busy period is an understatement. I've been given some challenging tasks and like to think I've risen to the challenge in a very professional manner. Guys/Galls it's been an absolute pleasure to work with you and hope we can do it all again if funding can be found. What an enhancement to Blackpool the Festival was.

Showroom Manager
-
Mar 1990 - Apr 1996
I interacted with the public to entice them to buy a new kitchen, bathroom or bedroom. I was the first point of contact. I went to clients homes to find out their requirements and measurements that would then enable me to design a new room for them, I would then encourage the sale. I also managed other staff members and trained junior members. I designed on a CAD system. I was also responsible for cash handling. I co-ordinated with the fitters on all aspects from start to finish of the job to ensure our clients a successful and happy end project. I worked long hours six days a week to succeed in this job and I feel I was very successfull.

Wages Clerk

Jun 1976 - Jan 1982
Cash handling was a big part of this job. I used to count all the cash and put the money in pay packets for over 800 members of staff. I manually added up all the hours to balance on clock cards. I dealt with tax codes and N.I. departments. I also covered all other aspects of office work from typing to book keeping. I was proficient in fax machines, comptometers and adding up columns of figures in my head.
