George has trekked the Himalayas, sailed the Atlantic Coast and Caribbean, earned a PhD in Literature, and taught at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and at Austin Community College. He has also been a builder and real estate developer, oil field roughneck, construction worker, private pilot, commercial fisherman, and writer of travel articles. Peggy and George have done numerous work trips for the Sierra Club in wilderness areas all over the United States. George has worked on hunger and construction projects in Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and Tanzania. Taught for Sage, Nova, Forum, and Lifetime Learning Institute. Docent Bullock Museum, lectured on tour boat on eastern water ways. Author of Guide And Companion to Great Circle Water Way: Peggy and George launch their power boat, SPRAY, in Port Isabel, Texas for the trip of a lifetime, cruising the waterways of America, specifically the 6000 mile route known as The Great Circle.It’s a voyage of adventure, natural wonder, people, and friendships, but also a voyage of discovery as they explore the lore of the waterway---the events, places, commerce and ecology that shape the culture and consciousness of this nation.
