Software Development Manager
-
1995 - 1999
I was responsible for rebuilding a team of software developers who had spent years creating and maintaining Intel's Factory Information & Controls systems running 24/7 and 365 around the world...a team exhausted and burned out when I took over. I also was responsible for re-writing the next generation of IFICs and getting it deployed successfully while raising factory availability above what was then about 96% uptime only. Lines down time cost Intel $20,000.00 a minute of lost motherboard production. In less than two years by implementing a new, multimillion dollar software Integration Facility that emulated all factory real time systems, and enforcing strict software development quality test measures and a controlled software release process, our team improved factory availability uptime to over 99.3%, saving Intel between $7 Million and $9 Million dollars a MONTH from that point on. The next motto on the badge laniards I had made said "100% IFICS" to challenge ourselves to achieve perfection!
