    My current job working on the railway infrastructure is a very physical demanding role carrying out all aspects of maintanance work such as: Cable troughs, installing and renewing tracks, tunnels, embankments, cuttings, level crossings and bridges. Operate heavy machinery to lay new track or carry out major repairs measuring tracks to check sections are at the correct distance apart and at the right height, inspecting tracks for defects, using a combination of eyesight and equipment checks reporting and clearing potential obstacles, for example after bad weather carrying out site surveys to identify the maintenance needs of a track section reporting accidents and incidents performing lookout and hand signalling duties during trackside operations.Key Duties & Responsibilities • Good level of fitness• Ability in practical and mechanical work• Good teamworking skills• An awareness of safe working practices on the railways• The ability to use automated and hand tool• Good communication skills

    As a royal signals driver lineman my main duties where to drive, maintain and service a wide variety of vehicles from cars to larges goods vehicles, along with this the movement of hazardous materials (hasmat). Other tasks associated were to construct field cable routes and lay fibre optic cabeling to support the Armys IT and communication systems. I also made sure technical equipment and suppliers were in the right place at the right time and in the right quanity. I was also responsible for running computerised stock controls and accounting systems for technical stores and manual accounting systems, this was carried out in mobile and static locations. Along with this I handled the receipt issue and transfer procedures of a multinational specialist supply systems.Also on operation and excerises I was responsible for mobile stores carried in a vehicle that I was required to drive and maintain.Key Duties & Responsibilities• Working independently with minimal supervision• Maintain and servicing a variety of cars and LGV vehicles• Movement of hazardous materials (hasma)• Experience of stock controls and accounting systems
