As the Las Vegas City Engineer, I was directly responsible for all of the engineering design, construction, and maintenance of all public facilities within the city. Such facilities included:• Streets• Strom drainage facilities• Water & Sanitary sewer collection and distribution• Traffic controlI was also responsible for code compliance and plan review/approval of all private “on-site” construction projects as dictated by NRS and local ordinances. During my time as City Engineer, I also acted as City Project Officer. In this position I was in charge of the coordination, development, and approval for major projects, such as:♦ Summerlin (including Summerlin Parkway and related streets, intersections, and traffic control devices)♦ Del Webb Sun City♦ CitiBank expansion♦ The widening of West Sahara AvenueFor the Summerlin project, I was the designated authority for all development and approvals. Summerlin is a 30,000-acre Master-Planned community developed by a Howard Hughes company; the Summerlin roadway system included innovative “roundabouts,” typically a European roadway development.

As City Engineer for Mt. Vernon, Illinois, I had ultimate technical authority and direction over design approval for new municipal streets and routine street maintenance. My duties also included:♦ Assisting the police department with accident reconstructions♦ Plan, review, and approval of all residential subdivisions and commercial construction♦ Facility design and approvalI provided facility design and approval for: • roadways• street lighting• traffic control• water supply systems• waste water treatment and disposal• landfills• storm water drainage• road construction and maintenanceI was also crucial in helping the city receive and Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG). After I completed and submitted the application, our town in Southern Illinois received $6.43 million for the development of the city. Using the awarded monies, I was responsible for the design, construction, the whole works, of major access roads and utilities for industrial development. With the changes and updates we made, the town prospered with the increased employment and additional commercial and manufacturing sites.
