I am now responsible for ICT, Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Trowel Trades, Carpentry, Construction Management and Civil Engineering, Electrical Installation, Applied Science, Access to HE and Extended Science Degree.In the coming year I will be focusing on:* Developing external partnerships with employers to help grow the curriculum, and improve opportunities for our learners.* Reviewing and improving operational efficiencies to ensure the faculty is delivering a cost effective curriculum offer in accordance with college KPIs.* Drive Digital Transformation in the faculty, developing skills in the learners that will be needed to be successful in the modern workplaces and careers.

Effective 17th August 2020 I ended my role with Science and A-Levels picking up Electrical and Plumbing. Before changing role I developed the Science curriculum at Level 3 so that three distinct pathways are available in the second year of the RQF BTEC programme. Outcomes for learners improved in Achievement and Retention, and employer engagement increased in the curriculum.I am currently reviewing the processes in the Electrical and Plumbing departments to ensure improvements are made before the next Ofsted inspection. As part of the review the curriculum is being adapted/adjusted to ensure it better meets the needs of the students and industry.In the coming year I will be working on:* Improving the quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment so that students get a good experience at Oaklands.* Increasing recruitment in Part-Time Adult courses across all departments.* Developing Canvas Courses that will help students achieve the higher grades and first-time passes while freeing time for greater skills development in vocational courses.* Developing new pathways for students that will fast-track their progression in Apprenticeships or employment without removing the opportunity of progression to Higher Education.* Developing my management and leadership skills with the support of the college.I am also updating my professional skills in Cyber-Security (completed September 2020) and Introduction to the Internet of Things (completed September 2020) through Cisco Certification.

Effective 1st July 2019 I added A-Levels to my management responsibilities joining Applied Science, Access to Higher Education, Extended Science Degree and ICT. I am looking forward to developing the area and potential curriculum we can offer to support progression opportunities to Higher Education including Higher Apprenticeships. I currently line manage 4 Coordinators, 1 Programme Manager and approximately 19 team members. I am currently reviewing the processes in the department to ensure improvements are made before the next Ofsted inspection. As part of the review the curriculum is being adapted/adjusted to ensure it better meets the needs of the students and industry. I have also reintroduced the Cisco Academy to the college and registered the college as a CompTIA Academy so that our students can achieve industry qualifications alongside their Study Programme.In the coming year I will be working on:* Improving the quality of T, L and A especially in Applied Science and ICT.* Increasing recruitment in Access to HE and A - Levels.* Developing Canvas Courses that will help students achieve the higher grades while freeing time for greater skills development.* Developing new pathways for students that will fast-track their progression in Apprenticeships or employment without removing the opportunity of progression to Higher Education.* Developing my management and leadership skills with the support of the college.During my time leading these departments they all improved in terms of outcomes for learners (Achievement and Retention).

Learning Area Manager - Technologies and Strategic Lead for STEM

Following a review and further restructure by the Senior Management Team my role evolved to include the Construction and Motor Vehicle departments which increased my Learning Area to around 640 students enrolled across Full-Time, Part-Time and Apprenticeship Frameworks with an income of around 2.9 million pounds. As a consequence of this restructure my official title changed to 'Learning Area Manager for Technologies and Strategic Lead for STEM'.• Lead and support a team that includes 1 Student Experience Lead, 1 Learning Area Lead, 15+ lecturers and 4 Instructor/Assessors working across Engineering, Motor Vehicle and Construction. I also managed Information Communication Technology until August 2017 when it was transferred to another manager so that I could focus on the new Engineering and Construction Skills Centre that opened in September 2017.• Lead and support the development of the curriculum offer working with the teaching team, students and external partners including employers and local authorities to ensure it responds to the needs of the sector both locally and nationally. Through my leadership and collaborative working the recruitment in FT Engineering programmes has increased from around 35 students to 137. Engineering Apprenticeships increased by around 50%. (Apprenticeships have now been centralised within a dedicated department although I still play an active role in recruitment and development.)• Following a review of the Motor Vehicle curriculum and after implementing some key changes the profile of the department has evolved from one group (5 students) of Level 2 learners to 3 groups (40+ students) in September 2015. In September 2017 the Motor Vehicle department added Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance to it programme offer enrolling 8 students in the first year. (All 8 students completed successfully)

• As part of the restructured management team I successfully led the Engineering and ICT curriculum areas to 'Good' in October 2013 as part of Central Bedfordshire College's last full Ofsted Inspection. Under my leadership both areas have improved with ICT improving from a Grade 4.• I developed and managed the curriculum through collaboration with the teachers, assessors, students and employers to meet the needs of all our different partners. Improvements to the curriculum offer under my leadership has seen the recruitment in ICT grow by 55% on the previous year with recruitment in Engineering improving by 40%. I work closely with the Learning Improvement Managers and the team to design and provide relevant ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD) activities and training to help them meet strategic aims and objectives.• I manage a team of 13 Lecturers and 3 NVQ Assessors ensuring the development of a robust system that recognises successes, and addresses areas for development within the team and Learning Area in a timely manner. Under my leadership the Technology team have all improved their lesson gradings with all team members graded 'Good' or better.
