As a Veterinary business manager, I am responsible for maintaining and growing Chanelle's portfolio of veterinary pharmaceuticals in practices within my territory. My territory covers the east coast from Peterborough to the Scottish Borders and also Cumbria so careful planning and a targeted approach are essential to successfully manage such a large geographical territory.Working with practice owners, buying groups, wholesalers, practice managers and nurses alike, I approach each client with a professional yet friendly demeanour. The result of which is a growth figure of 31% in my first year at Chanelle.

I spent nearly two and a half years at VetPlus and in that time I built some lasting relationships with key decision makers in many practices across my territory. I managed a large territory including the North East, Cumbria, Scottish Borders, Isle of Man, Dumfries & Galloway, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. Covering such a large area required careful planning and dedication. My main responsibilities were to expand the VetPlus product portfolio of ‘Super Premium’ products within existing clients, build relationships with key decision makers, deliver CPD presentations to practice staff, account manager c.200 active accounts, report daily to my Regional Sales Manager and most importantly grow our market share in our given sectors.

As a Business Development Manager, my role was to increase Biffa’s market share in the waste collection and recycling industry, reporting directly to the commercial manager and commercial director. A typical day would include prospecting/cold calling, preparing detailed quotations, site health and safety audits, preparing tender documents, organising and attending meetings with prospects and general administration. This role was highly autonomous and as such requires a high-level of self motivation and organisational skills. Despite being in the role for a limited period of time I secured a total of eighteen new contracts with a gross annual turnover of c. £100,000.

As a Senior Sales Executive, I managed a portfolio of over 200 active accounts ranging in value from £1200 to £100,000pa dealing with a range of clients including professional buyers and company directors. I was expected to retain the existing business through exceptional customer relations and grow the business by increasing margins, adding lines and securing new accounts. Skills I developed for this position include exceptional time management, impeccable planning and organisation, the ability to think quickly and decisively, superb interpersonal skills and above all the ability to self motivate. I was selected by my Regional Sales Director to co-train the new recruits at our head office in September 2009. This involved supporting the company trainer, delivering training modules to a group of around 20 trainees, passing on my experiences in the field as well as being an ambassador for Lyreco in order to motivate the trainees.
