During my time as an intern at Little Seeds Preschool, I was grateful for the opportunities that I received to push myself to the potential of a preschool educator. I was assigned to a Nursery 2 (N2) class, with my host teacher, principal and mentor guiding me through the ins and outs of being an educator. I was able to improve on my lesson planning and lesson implementation abilities, and honed my observation skills into creating a unique and holistic portfolio for a focus child in my homeclass. I also created a Take-home activity kit out of recycled materials, such as cardboard. The theme of the kit was on the 5 senses, where children would participate in 4 activities together with their parents. At the midpoint of my internship, I also assisted my teachers with the classroom set up for the new academic year, and learned on how to support my class during a transition period to a new level. Lastly, I planned and executed the school's Deepavali celebration and a field trip for my homeclass to Pasir Ris Park. Some skills that I have improved on are:- Collaboration with different teachers- Classroom management- Assessment and Portfolios- Field trip planning and implementation- Teaching aids/resource creations- Targeted lesson planning and implementation- Take-home kit creation and implementation

During my one month centre attachment at PCF Sparkletots, I learned how to assist my host teacher in daily routines, such as temperature taking, meal time, nap time, story reading and dismissal. I was also given the opportunity to conduct 3 lesson plans for a class of Nursery 2(N2) children. These lesson plans would be based on the same theme; sea creatures while having different learning areas and objectives. Before I began thinking of ideas for these lesson plans, I first observed and asked my host teacher on the development of the children and from there, I could angle my lesson in a way that could reinforce their learning. Preparing for the lesson plans taught me that I could seek advice from the senior teachers and to be open to feedback or suggestions that my supervisor or my host teacher gave to me. I also collaborated with the other teachers and helped them in supervising their class, preparing materials for their lessons or helping them design their classroom environment. Expertises that I picked up includes:- Organisation skills in setting a timeline - Collaborative mindset- Routine care- Classroom management- Knowledge of a preschool curriculum - Confidence as a future educator - Effective communication skills with the children & other educators
