Investment Placement Group (IPG) provides result-based financial solutions for individuals, families, and institutional investors. The firm forms alliances with world-class independent advisors in wealth management, estate, and succession planning. The group follow a detailed investment process; the trading team identifies opportunities, while independent research delivers the macroeconomic vision and fundamental analysis needed to make informed decisions. This, coupled with a network of global banks and dealer relationships, provides the clients’ access to institutional thinking and liquidity worldwide. As a summer associate, I interfaced with the key functions of the firm. Much of my work was directly related to the high standard of legal and ethical compliance that IPG stands for as an investment advisory group. I developed a deep understanding of the client onboarding process and operational functions associated with account management through maintenance of hundreds of different accounts. This includes extensive experience on the Pershing NetX360 system. Additionally, I completed due diligence on prospective clients, conducted some independent equity and fixed-income research, inventoried more than 2000 accounts filed in our San Diego office, and derived client repayment obligations owing to changes in the SEC’s policy toward 12B-1 fees. As a capstone project, I authored a proprietary training manual for the onboarding and maintenance of client accounts.
