Project title: Fluoxetine Eliminates JURL-MK1 Cells as a Model for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia Stem CellsSupervisor: Professor David VetrieWorked in the University of Glasgow's Institute of Cancer Sciences examining the possibility of repurposing the antidepressant fluoxetine into a treatment for chronic myeloid leukaemia. I was trained for practice in biosafety levels 1 and 2 laboratories, obtained general health and safety training, FACS training, and ultracentrifuge training. During my time in the Vetrie lab, I have acquired experience in the following areas:Lentivirus production, isolation, and concentration; cell transfection; plasmid production and isolation; HEK and JURL-MK1 cell handling and culturing; cell drug treatment studies; immunofluorescence; FACS analysis; protein and mRNA isolation; protein and mRNA isolation; protein quantification using BCA protein assay; western blots; reverse transcription and qPCR; and data presentation for expert and non-expert audiences.
