    In this position, I was one of several undergraduate research assistants to a graduate student in the biomaterials division at Michigan Technological University. Our project was creating a new type of tracking tag for field use on whales to track their migration patterns with the goal to protect them from crossing paths with human vessels that would disrupt and cause harm to the whales. My job in this project was testing the polydopamine coating that would be on the tags in different environments that the whale would be subject to during it's path (ie. varying levels of salinity in water, fat solutions, simulated body fluids, etc..)
