Wheelwright Consultants continues to help service industries improve their performance by providing our clients with our many years of experience as operators, educations, and guests. For about four years now we have also been providing "Expert Witness" consulting in cases where guests have been injured in a club, hotel, or restaurant or where an investment in such a facility has not performed as expected. We have been involved in cases where guests have sustained permanent and significant injuries, and in some cases the guests died as a result of their injuries, allegedly as a result of the negligence on the part of the airline, club, hotel, or restaurant. While some of these businesses have been independent operators, quite a number of have been major international companies or franchises. In a number of cases it was alleged that the individual unit or employee failed to follow industry or corporate standards. In a number of these cases it was our opinion that the old saying, "the chain is only as strong as the weakest link" was proven true, yet again. Better training and more effective supervision as well as proper adherence to standard operating procedures, would in most of the cases we've been involved in, prevented injuries and saved lives. Training is not a one-time activity, it must be ongoing and must address an increasingly broad range of possible activities, including the safety of guests, purveyors, and employees.
