Graduate Assistant/Coordinator FYRST Seminar
-
Aug 2013 - May 2015
Graduate Assistant in charge of FYRST Seminar program. I work with between 60-70 students a year who are the Peer Leaders for our FYRST Seminar Program. FYRST Seminar is a first year program which operates during the fall semester. Each section is designed to accommodate various majors with a corresponding Peer Leader in most classes. The Peer Leaders job is to facilitate class discussions and provide a student perspective to help incoming first year students in their adjustment to higher education. As the Coordinator it is my job to provide assistance and support to the Peer Leaders. I help in designing professional development opportunities for the Peer Leaders. The Professional Development is done throughout the Fall semester and once in the Spring for new hires. We have various offices and instructors help by presenting information regarding services available to all university students as well as possible techniques and content that may be integrated into the individual classes. I am also responsible for helping with the various assessments we use during the year involving assessments for the entire first year class along with those geared directly to the effectiveness of the FYRST program.

Residential Services
Marketing and Content Creation for Residential Services Website for the Vacation Accommodations branch. These materials are used to increase the commercial side of the Vacation Accommodations. The purpose is to get large conferences and camps to choose UWC as venue for their events, in turn developing relationships that will serve both groups advantageously. In the Student Housing branch I worked on updating the Visitor Policy to be implemented throughout all the Residence on campus as well as the assets records for the residence. Assets Records deals with all the furniture and equipment provided by the University to the students including desks, beds, shelves, washers, dryers, etc. I was responsible for compiling data to illustrate if it was more cost effective to perform repairs or to by new units. In the office of ResLife I was responsible for the creation of a Development Manual for the ResLife Development Officers (RLDO). RLDO are post-graduate students who are hired for each residence hall. The responsibilities of the RLDO are to create a LLC for each residence with the focus on creating learning circles and programming to support a specific field of interest. RLDOs are also responsible for programming in various other areas to foster a community within each residence. The program has only been in place for 3 years at UWC so is still fairly new and is constantly adapting to fill in the various needs that arise. Currently there are 12 RLDO within ResLife. In creating the RLDO Manual it was my job to compile the various documents that already existed into one cohesive document for presentation to the RLDO at the time of hiring.
