      • Jan 2022 - Jul 2022

The course of my Industrial Training at Danvic Petroleum International was centered around the knowledge of the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector in the Oil and Gas Industry. The areas treated were General Knowledge in Geology and Geophysics, Formation Evaluation, and Seismic Methods. In the first three and half months, I received requisite knowledge in Geology and Geophysics including; , Rock Cycle, Sequence Stratigraphy, the Petroleum System, Structural Geology, Geology of Nigeria, and Geophysical Methods. After that came the fundamental concepts of Formation Evaluation; here, I was exposed to the aspects of Petrophysics as well as Well Log Analysis (well-log analysis general workflow, well-to-well correlation, delineation of reservoir from non-reservoir, calculation of the volumetrics of a prolific reservoir, etc). This was done through series of lectures, and several engagements in practicals both in hand-on project calculations and use of software. The last two and half months were when I learnt about Seismic Methods (Acquisition, Processing, and Interpretation), but focused primarily on Seismic Interpretation. It was in these last months I learned how to interpret a processed seismic section including the identification and marking out of faults, identification of stratigraphic packages, and how to produce a chronostratigraphic map.I also enrolled and satisfactorily completed the Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health Training organized by the company in March featuring; training on HSEs 1, 2, and 3.PS - I also volunteered at the Third International Association for Engineering Geology (IAEG) Regional Congress and Seventh National Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (NAGE) Annual International Conference, held in Lagos from the 9th to the 14th of October, 2022.

Posted to the Department of Hydrogeology, and worked at the Meteorological Station; in charge of the daily (morning and evening) readings and recordings of the meteorological instruments, such as wind vane, wet and dry thermometer, campbell solar reflector, anemometer and many others. I also acquired a good knowledge about borehole drilling and underground water exploration. I appreciated the fact that simple meteorological recordings can be very useful to infer climatic changes. I was able to learn about the answer to the question "How is water gotten from the subsurface?" Indeed an exciting experience.
