    DJAMU was born from my passion for making a difference in the world. As Founder, my desire is to raise awareness of the dual challenges of plastic pollution and poverty in Jakarta and find effective and practical solutions. My work has been informed by my time living and engaging with people in the informal waste sector, and social enterprise /creative spaces in Jakarta.DJAMU is an innovative solution to reducing plastic waste pollution and taking positive action to combat poverty, through upskilling and educating people in the trash picker community and informal industries in Jakarta. The enterprise is named after the holistic therapy of the same name, a practice that embraces the long-held philosophy of harmony between a person and their environment.

    An educator and counsellor, over more than 20 years I held multiple roles that enabled me to have a very personal impact on the wellbeing of students in my care. Most significantly I supported students in Years 7-12 as Head of Year / Group Coordinator in Pastoral Care. I worked collaboratively with students and the St Vincent de Paul Society in a Student Outreach Program. I also project managed and coordinated several large scale school fundraising and community events.
