Adapted computer-aided microscope system for use in human brain tissue. (vide supra) The system was constructed at Tufts using funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and moved to UMass in 1987. Collaborated with Drs. Ed Stopa, Joan C. King, and Steve Barney. The Neurosurgery title was a courtesy appointment conferred by Dr. William Shucart, chief of Neurosurgery. This appointment extended past 1987, and made it possible to transfer the research to UMass and keep NIH funding.
