Spearheaded the mechanical aspect of product development for the pneumatic pump.Worked with cross-functional team across Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and San Diego to push out the product through 510K submission.Designed the functional interfaces for air and electrical connection to link up the pump to the pneumatic garment.Came up with novel designs for 3 parts to utilise pre-existing interfaces without modification, minimising part count and modification costs, while maintaining functionality and IP22 water ingress compliance.Designed and 3d printed prototyping parts.Built up testing rig with available parts for characterisation testing and tuning of prototypes to balance functionality, ease of use and durability.Created and maintained build standard of prototype build leading up to and including 510K build prototype.Worked with design partners and manufacturers to ensure that finished product is mechanically complaint with IEC60601-1.Communicated design and required properties of mechanical parts to manufacturing vendors in Malaysia and China, and resolved issues via DFM discussions.Heavily involved in troubleshooting testing and failure root cause analysis of complaint return units.o Used Jira and Kanban boards to track progress of troubleshooting and to share with the team.Identified manufacturing processes issues for 4 parts where design improvements or correcting manufacturer errors led to improved part performanceo Designed and tested manufacturing process improvements and successfully communicated the improvements to the vendors.o This led to the eradication of manufacturing issues with 2 parts and a 200% increase in tensile breakage force for the other, reducing returns due to those failure modes.o Design improvements to the 3rd part were in progress, up till the closure of the BUPerformed formal Verification and Validation testing based on 2 test protocols, and wrote their respective reports.
