    -Company Start Up & Spin Out: As a member of Red-M's management board, Duncan was central in the company's set up, strategy definition and ongoing financial management.-Venture Capital Funding: Duncan was responsible for the funding process from inception to final closure. Red-M secured $35m of private equity funding in a landmark deal with 3 of Europe's leading venture capital firms (Intel Capital, Apax Partners, Amadeus Capital Partners). At the time in 2001, the deal represented the largest early stage private equity transaction (outside the telecoms sector) in Europe.

    Madge Connect's major revenue stream (token ring networking) was facing intense competition from a rival technology (ethernet). The resulting market decline necessitated significant cost reduction activities and reengineering of the business model. As a key member of the change management board, Duncan was instrumental in the development and execution of many areas of the change strategy.-Acquisition lead for the purchase of Olicom A/S ($22m transaction, including the transfer of 55 employees)-Managed the sale of non-core video business to York Telecom Corporation-Duncan negotiated a multi-million dollar technology agreement with IBM, which secured Madge Connect's use of IBM's technology portfolio

    In 1995 BMW AG took the decision and cut it's ties with Lloyds Bowmaker and set up it's own financial services infrastructure in the UK.
