I served as a part-time Investment Consultant for Copia while ongoing recruitment was pursued to replace me in my permanent position as Head of Investment, which I had resigned from in November 2015 to set up my consultancy company Generate Alpha Ltd. This was two years after the launch of the flagship portfolios, with AUM having reached £55 million from scratch and a successful 2-year live performance track record that outperformed comparators over all model portfolios.

I was hired to set up the investment business from the ground up (the proposition, the investment strategies, the systems) using some of the in-house capabilities of Novia. I was responsible for managing clients’ money and overall running of the business unit. My role involved designing the flagship product (risk-rated model portfolios which are managed using a quantitative investment strategy, using ETFs and passive funds), asset allocation, running clients’ money invested in those strategies well as promoting the business through media channels, conducting fund due diligence, client presentations, writing marketing, overall running of the business unit.• Designed the investment proposition of the DFM. • Hired and managed team of quantitative analysts.• Selected investment universe of ETFs and passive funds. Conducted fund due diligence, meeting with fund providers.• Designed, backtested and implemented flagship investment strategies. Selected feasible data providers and seamlessly integrated into systems.• All model portfolios beat their benchmarks over the 2 years I was managing them.• Assets Under Management increased from 0 to £ 52 million in 18 months.• Worked with the Marketing team, wrote marketing materials.• Worked with the PR team. Gave interviews and wrote articles which were published in industry media. Spoke at industry panels.• Worked with the Sales team. Attended client meetings. Made presentations to Board and clients.• Worked with the Compliance team to ensure regulatory compliance. Became CF30.• FCA Approved Person for the company. Member of Investment Committee.

(UK’s first robo-adviser, VC backed start-up, bought by JPMorgan in 2021) As the sixth employee and the first investment professional of this start-up, I designed and set up Nutmeg's investment systems from the ground up. Designed, built and traded long-only, multi-asset, monthly rebalanced model portfolios composed of ETFs.
