Sioux City, Iowa Area with manuscript sent to Carlsbad, CA
I wrote a book proposal for Hay House, which I had been motivated to write for years but put off because of uncertainty regarding the topic. However, the topic clearly came into focus and further details came to me as I contemplated, meditated and prepared daily for the submission of the book prospectus. I also created a book cover, to have a visual to write toward, while writing, and completed the manuscript prior to the October 28, 2013 deadline! My first book, co-authored in 1988, published by Herald Publishing House, Independence, MO, was titled "Many Will Respond." It dealt with how to encourage volunteers to assist in the work of strengthening outreach and witnessing ministries. It specifically focused on an individual's spiritual growth and congregational church expansion.

I taught all the "Foundations of Education" classes, during my teaching at Morningside College, which I subtitled, "So you really think you want to be a teacher, huh?" Additionally, while there I taught "Secondary Methods," which was designed to get teacher candidates away from the lecture and into two dozen "creative methodologies" that assured better absorption and retention for their students, no matter what the subject matter. Lastly, I supervised secondary level student teachers who were to become teachers at the middle school or high school level.Being a small, liberal arts college, I served on numerous committees and have also served the Iowa Department of Education as member of various "site review teams" which approve other colleges/universities for their state and national certification. I also was the initiator of a new "test-out" procedure for students, within the whole college, who wanted to test out of a freshman course which they felt they did not need or had studied the material during their high school studies.

Assistant Professor of Education

Aug 2003 - Jul 2004
I taught all the "Foundations of Education" courses, which I endearingly and humorously subtitled, "So you think you really want to be a teacher, huh?" Having been a high school teacher for most of my life, I attempted to share with students, and expose them to, every aspect of teaching from A (absence) to Z (their daily zeal!). Additionally, I taught methodologies of secondary education: How to get away from textbook reading and worksheets only!Lastly, I supervised student teachers who were going to become middle school or high school teachers.

Beckloff Associates was a "transition position" for me. I had been laid off from a non-profit hospice group/organization because of decreased funding and applied to Beckloff for this position. I expanded the business of the company by making contacts in every imaginable pharmaceutical business which could use Beckloff's unique drug methodologies of getting a new drug through FDA approval, drug tests and financial conclusion to become a new drug on the market.During this position, I was responsible for entertaining all our Japanese clients who were coming for education on getting a new drug through FDA approval. I would pick them up at their hotel every morning and return them every evening--often taking them to dinner. Thus, I shared American culture and language and learned Japanese culture and language as I bonded with them during a month-long educational stay at Beckloff headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.

Senior Organizational Development Representative developing and presenting both cultural and technical courses for employees in an industrial environment. When Harmon Industries, Inc., a small, family-oriented company was purchased by General Electric (Division of Transportation Systems), GE eliminated the training department completely. Thus, I went out and began my own training and presentation company called APECS, Inc. (The acronym stood for "A Passion for Exceptional Customer Service" and also related to "taking your company or employees to the top, or the APEX of their ability.)
