As a Senior Process Engineer in the Power Division I had responsibility for the design of wet and dry flue gas desulfurization systems going on coal-fired power plants. This work included performing process selection studies to determine the proper technology for the installation, selecting the bidders, writing the bid specification, performing the bid evaluations and awarding the contract. Some of the projects I worked on included:1. Utah Power & Light, Huntington Station, Unit 1 - the first vertical open spray tower to go into operation in the United States2. Colorado Ute Electric, Craig Station, Units 1 and 2 - wet FGD systems3. Southern California Edison, Mohave Station - assisted in the design of the original 160 MW horizontal scrubber4. Wisconsin Power & Light, Columbia Station, Units 1 and 2 - wet FGD systems. Project was cancelled because of a change in fuel source5. Wisonsin Public Service Co, Pulliam Station, Units 3 thru 8 - installation of a new natural drafting chimney for all six units6. EPRI, Retrofit FGD Cost-Estimating Guidelines, lead rpocess engineer on the original study7. Also worked on the design of air pollution control systems on three RCRA and one TSCA waste incinerators.
