I published a memoir about my 17 years with PPB in 2015. The book is entitled "Behind the Badge in River City: A Portland Police Memoir," and can be ordered on Amazon and through Powell's City of Books. It is also available as a Kindle book. In 2019, I published my first novel, a crime story called Frank's Revenge: Albina After Midnight. The book was positively reviewed in The Portland Tribune Newspaper the summer of 2019. My next book is another nonfiction book, called The Tainted Rose: Stories from a Portland Detective, which will be coming out in 2021.

I worked six long, exhausting years on the street as a patrolman where I saw people at their worst, doing terrible things to each other. In 1967, I was promoted to detective. I worked the Safe Detail, Burglary, and the Homicide Details before resigning under a doctors orders in April of 1978. I was 42 and like most long-term cops, I as exhausted and burnt out. I was glad to leave the constant stress and heartache of seeing the same crimes committed every day.
