Currently I am working as the Chief Operating Officer at LankaPay. Jointly owned by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and other commercial banks operating in the country, LankaPay operates number of national payment systems such as Common ATM switch (CAS), Common Electronic Fund Transfer System (CEFTS), Sri Lanka Interbank Payment System (SLIPS), Cheque Imaging and Truncation System (CITS), ‘JustPay’ – the mobile payment platform, LankaSign Digital Certification Service, LankaPay Online Payment Platform (LPOPP).I am responsible for the overall operations of LankaPay and ensuring all the national payment products operate without any interruption and in a secure manner. I also carry the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) responsibilities when the incumbent CEO is away. LankaPay has revolutionized the payment infrastructure in Sri Lanka by introducing innovative payment solutions and continues to serve the nation driving towards a digital economy while promoting financial inclusivity and less cash society.

I worked as the Vice President – Operations and Global Head of Project Management for HSBC Group Knowledge Management based out of HSBC Global Delivery Service Centre in Colombo. It is the largest Knowledge Processing Outsourcing (KPO) operation in Sri Lanka at the moment. Staffed by over 3000 staff, HSBC Global Delivery Services Centre provides a myriad of business services to the HSBC Group world-wide.As the Site Lead for HSBC Group Knowledge Management in Colombo, I oversaw a team of knowledge management professionals who govern and organize HSBC’s information into secure and consumable knowledge that enables effective business building. Previously, as the Global Head of Project Management – Global Publishing Services, I was responsible for leading a team of project managers in HSBC offices based in Cairo (Egypt), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Guangzhou (China), Krakow (Poland), Bangalore/Hyderabad (India) and Manila (Philippines) to deliver projects within the HSBC group.

I worked as the Program Head attached to the ‘Reengineering Government’ program area of ICTA overseeing the implementation of national level ICT initiatives such as ‘ePopulation Register’, ‘eNational Identity Card’, ‘eCivil Registration’, ‘eLand Registration’, ‘Common eHRM’ and ‘eHealth’ projects. Apart from the above projects that I managed directly, I also oversaw the implementation of a number of other national level ICT projects by project managers who worked in my program area. These projects included Government Information Center (GIC), eSamurdhi, eMotoring etc. In addition, I also extended project management, procurement and technical assistance to a number of other eGovernment initiatives launched by various ministries in the government such as Ministry of Internal Administration, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Land etc. I was also the lead for Project Management at ICTA. As the lead for Project Management, I was responsible for ensuring that all the project managers adhere to the Project Management Methodology adopted by ICTA. I was also a member of a number of Technical Evaluation Committees and Procurement Committees for various ministries and departments of the government for GoSL and donor funded projects. As a result, I am fairly conversant in World Bank and Government of Sri Lanka procurement processes and guidelines.
