    Preparation of feasibility studies, incl. timescales, costs, etc., producing complete designs and carrying out trials, liaison with external customers and suppliers. Attended a course for Vickers latest design package Unigraphics NX 3D modelling, 2D drawings and photorealistic shaded pictures which can be used for brochures etc. Responsible for overall design of new vehicle chassis and some of the vehicle sub-systems; including vehicle environmental systems. Also included the responsibility for the supervision of undergraduates working within the department on a temporary basis.

Attended a course on CAD/CAM 2D drawing at Herriot Watt University plus the Advanced 3D modeling course at Ferranti Infographics. Attended a course at the University of Northumbria on a day release basis and obtained a BEng(H) degree. Also spent 12 months working in the Manufacturing Strategy Group, looking at improvements to the manufacturing process and supplying designs for simple jigs, fixtures and methods of manufacture.

Attended a basic drafting skills course at Vickers training Centre, after completion of the course was placed in the technical department on an alternative work scheme.
