    The key deliverable for this project was the interviewing of senior officials from various financial sector organisations that form part of the Financial Sector Contingency Forum (FSCF), to understand the sectoral and organisational operational risks that arose during the pandemic. The interview process was aimed at highlighting organisational responses to operational risks, detailing the communication methodologies during the pandemic, and identifying key lessons learnt. Post the interview phase of the project I was then tasked with the drafting of one chapter on financial sector operational risk and contributing to another chapter focused on pandemic regulatory and other relief measures.

    The key deliverable for this contract was to provide technical assistance to designated state SME funding and development agencies to improve the level of access to finance for SMEs. The technical assistance provided under this role entails assisting the relevant state agencies to develop and operationalize innovative funding solutions through the Budget Support Programme funded by the EU and providing targeted capacity building with the aim of improving the delivery of financial solutions to designated SME groups. The team oversaw the implementation of a half a billion rand in Budget Support. The R300m Enterprise and Supplier Development Fund has been fully implemented, with R245m in match funding already raised. The R300m Innovation Fund - A credit guarantee-based fund that targets the Agricultural, Green Economy, Microfinance, ICT, Medical, and Automotive sectors - has already commenced with implementation, and is expected to raise a minimum of R1,3bn in private sector funding to SMMEs.

    The role of Public Sector Enterprise and Supplier Development Specialist Project Advisor entailed the development and maintenance of relationships with a variety of public sector organisations on a national scale, for the purpose of creating structured lending and business development support for Black SMEs who are designated suppliers to Public Sector organisations. Key achievements include the initiation and support of the Tshepo 10000 Programme with the City of Tshwane in 2015, the establishment of a R200m co-fund with SEFA (2016), the development of bespoke Credit policy to meet the needs of the Public Sector SMEs (2016). My Enterprise and Supplier Development submission as part of the bid for the Limpopo Provincial Government banking business was a critical component of Absa CIB being awarded the tender estimated to be worth R100m over 5 years (2018). I also took the lead in the development of a R200m Enterprise and Supplier Development Fund with UNISA (2019) – coordinated across several business units within Absa as well as with external service providers.
